SCRAWLRBOX
Consulting this high-growth subscription startup on how to unlock the next levels of growth & maximise customer value
Scrawlrbox has just passed its 5 year mark and has proved phenomenally successful; it's continuing to grow fast and with healthy margins.

The founder has brought me in to initially understand his business better, by answering 3 key questions:
-
Are there pockets of value untapped within the current model
-
What are the customer cohorts which drive the most value
-
How do different marketing activities deliver different CLVs
From these we will built a growth plan for the next 2 years, and finally converted this strategy into a pipeline of projects.

Mar - June '20 : VolunteeR
PPE Portal for the UK Gov.
Responding to an urgent request to build a eComm portal during COVID19
As the 2nd person involved from eBay I brought onboard an international team of colleagues & co-led the work through MVP development, testing & full release. My main focus areas were customer service, risk mitigation, user testing & partner management.

It has now delivered Billions of PPE items, to 80k preselected frontline care workers. Winner of the "Most Sustainable Retailer" award from Modern retail - picked up by dozens of UK media outlets.

This work was delivered on top of my 'day job' & I received a personal message of thanks from the UK Health Minister & Minister for Care.

ChiaCharge Switzerland
Founded a company to import, distribute & D2C retail this natural, tasty & chia powered endurance sports food
As an endurance sports fan I found the food offering in Switzerland to be limited & dominated by very 'artificial' products. Along with a partner I set about bringing in some tasty variation.

I personally delivered the company setup, registration as a food importer, D2C website setup, marketing & day to day management of distribution.

We were profitable from day 1, but decided not to invest heavily, accepting to remain small scale in a small market. After 3 fun years I sold to my partner, who has since focused exclusively on the B2B side of the business.

Transform Gloves
Brought in by the founder & owner to make the transition from startup to established player
Transform Gloves has been bringing innovative & stylish snowboard gloves to the European scene for years. But B2B growth was being held back by margins & capital requirements. They had never retailed directly to riders due to cashflow constraints.
I directly renegotiated the T&C of key distributors in the Nordics & UK to demonstrate how profitable growth could be achieved by both parties. I then codified this into a playbook for the other markets
To further improve Transform's margins I also launched the 1st D2C online sales by leveraging the low-touch Amazon fulfilment (FBA).

Today Transform is going from strength to strength. With the FBA pilot proving the ease and value of D2C, they have since invested in building a bespoke online store.

Artel31 Architects
Design and delivery of a suite of management tools for my family's business to improve operating efficiency
The company was going through its most significant changes in 30+ years, triggered by the leadership transition from my father to brother, and compounded by margin pressure from increasing CoGS.
Most processes from costing, to procurement, to financial control were still managed offline.

I built a suite of light-touch, tailored, tools to bridge those gaps and allow the team to focus on what they do best; designing & building exceptional properties.
